Alex Back In Stripes
Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees have agreed to a 10-year $275 million contract that should lock of the future Hall of Famer for the remainder of his career.
An added bonus will be put in the contract if A-Rod breaks the all-time home run record (which should rightfully be returned to Hank Aaron after today's federal indictments).
Alex Rodriguez was a #1 draft pick by the Seattle Mariners and with that team set a single season shortstop record and joined the 40-40 club.
The past three years, Alex has deeply rooted himself in the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry from brawling with the Red Sox captain, to constantly hitting home runs of Curt Schilling.
He won the 2004 MVP award and is very likely to win the 2007 award announced Nov. 19.
Alex also hit career home runs 400 and 500 with the Yankees becoming the fastest player to reach both milestones.
I do have mixed feelings about A-Rod, one being a money hungry player (should I blame Scott Boras, his agent?), and another as welcoming the greatest player of our generation back to New York.
This past year, he joined a very elite club by leading the league in home runs, runs batted in, and runs scored joining Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Babe Ruth and two others.
Now if only he could play baseball in October...
