Oh Hell
Short and Sour:
Six losses in a row and Boston this weekend, very damnlicious.
This is sickening.
We have used nine different starters in a five man rotation: Andy Pettitte, Carl Pavano, Mike Mussina, Kei Igawa, Darrell Rasner, Philip Hughes, Jeff Karstens, Chase Wright and Chein-Ming Wang. Four of them minor league call ups to replace the injured staff. Pavano, you have no excuse, unless you got into another car accident.
Something has to be done, and it has to be done quick.
Raise more young arms in the rotation, dump Pavano since he can't pitch without visiting the disabled list, Mussina is aging, and Igawa so far is a bust.
The bullpen is a waste of time allowing three sure wins to be wasted with two of those against Boston last weekend.
What the Yankees need to do is appear on a new reality show: Extreme Makeover: Bullpen Edition.

Move Kei Igawa out of the starting rotation into the bullpen, and get rid of Mike Myers. Seriously, what does Myers do for the team? Him and Igawa both kind of suck, but at least I know Igawa can go a full inning. Myers' greatest talent seems to be watching the baseball go over the fence. Having him on the team causes undue stress upon the bullpen - if he doesn't outright lose the game, he is often the cause.
Even worse is that Torre trusts him to stop lefties, even though he is actually worse against lefties than righties. Whenever he comes in, I cringe - it's how I feel about Farnsworth too.
Hughes wasn't too bad in his first outing. Go with Wang, Mussina, Pettitte, Hughes and Pavano (if his ass doesn't have a crack in it, har har...) - maybe they can trade for Dontrelle Willis or Carlos Zambrano or something. God, I hope they get CC Sabathia...
Sorry for the rant... I just... hate Mike Myers so much...

I appreciate the rant.
Myers needs to be gone period, we can;t keep having him in teh game even as DOOP (designated one out pitcher).
Why we got Igawa was more out of desperation to match Boston in the off season and what a waste do far.
I am glad to see that we have a lot of potential in the minors, next season things could change a lot with the rotation.

Hey its Meli, just thought I would make a not that the Yankees are one out of last place, and the Mets are one out from first...lol go METS. :-)

Wow. Lucid commentary on the Yankee pitching staff from a Yankee fan!
I'm moderately impressed.

Actually, I started my own sports blog just to rant about how much I don't like Mike Myers...
Kei Igawa finally pitched a solid game, though he still gives me heart attacks when he's on the mound. Let's home he gains some momentum and can nail down the 5th rotation spot (No faith whatsoever from Carl Pavano)
